OFF TOPIC--New Mac Mini--any comments

I'm one of those people who likes to try out different operating systems. The Mac Mini at $499-$599 looks interesting. Further, I'm always interested in different authoring/programming systems for computers. There are a few out there for Mac that are not offered on windows. Not to mention that Makslane has mentioned the possibility of Mac support some day...

I also admit to being tired of having to worry about spyware, virus protection, and security issues on the Windows machines. I've heard a lot of hype about the Mac. I've never been much of a Mac fan though because years ago when the Amiga was "the great graphics machine", Apple was a direct contender and I was prejudiced for the Amiga. Old habits die hard!

What are your thoughts regarding the new machine :?:
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

Such a cool machine. The cheapest easiest way for a PC user to head in the mac direction. Does mac have a native game editing language? Will it run on my current PC network? I do like LOGIC, their music editor too.

But... for me... there is nothing that it offers me that I can't already do on my PC. Also - I kind of like the idea of building a machine out of parts and upgrading the parts that most matter to me.

Interesting topic. :)

Thanks Jazz. Those Minis are backordered 3-4 weeks already... Interesting.

Oh, and Micro. Actually that is my machine! Jazz is just too much of a gentleman to say so!

I saw a mac-mini today at a local Apple store. It has an even smaller box than I expected and,of course, it has Apple's famous slick artistic look. The machines must be selling very well because the store has major waiting lists. They sold out their first shipment immediately to people who were already on a waiting list...

I'd be happy to see it do well. It would be nice to see some competition for M$. I just wish that Linux could make bigger inroads into the home user market too.

I miss the days when there were several OSs and machines to choose from...
Vic-20,Atari,C=64,Sinclair,IBM,Amiga .... The good old days.
