[Windows 8] Test screen broken

Today I installed Game Editor 1.40 (official download from the website) on my new Windows 8 machine.
So far everything seems to work fine except for previewing / test-running the game.
- The preview screen can't be closed (esc / X icon don't work; need to use task manager).
- The preview screen is frozen; i.e. nothing happens. It launches and displays initial objects statically without executing any code / events / actions.

Is anyone else experiencing this and if yes, what can one best do to get it working again?


EDIT: Worse yet, no Game-Editor compiled games seem to work on Windows 8. This is a pretty big deal; can anyone else confirm?

my pc is 64 bit and have a x86 architecture,your?

The exact same.
I'm glad I'm the only one experiencing this up to now.
