Need help with Item Scrolling - Fixed

Postby sillydraco » Mon May 31, 2010 8:57 pm

I have it set up so that there are 5 actors (Item1-5) and 5 behind those (Cursor1-5). each of the items have 3 animations, one is blank, one is active and one is idle. each of the cursors have 2 animations, active and blank. when you keydown (,) for left and (.) for right it should scroll through the items. it will move one over, but then thats it :(

heres the files:

Ok dont fret check this out I made an example GED. Using the mouse when you press 1 icon that one will be activated and the others idle. when you press another icon with mouse that one will light up and other ones will be idle. Please tell me if it works for you and what else you need or if you have questions. This GED uses your icons so put then in same folder as your GED .Peace

thanks! although i dont want to use the mouse in this game, so i have to rely on keydowns :( i think the problem lies somewhere in the EventDisable, but im not sure. the way its set up is whenever a Cursor finishes an animation, the item its behind will eventdisable/enable depending on whether the cursor is active or idle.

aha i got it to work! i dropped the whole event disable thing too x3 it was only there so that the other cursors wouldnt do something they werent supposed to, but the way its set up now i dont need it anymore. i put two keydowns ("," for left and "." for right) on the frame behind the items. i gave it an if / then / else to check which of the five cursors were active and move it left or right accordingly. yay! and thanks a lot for the help krenisis! ill give you a point ^^

now im going to work on making the items work, i already have the energy ball working. im having a bit of a hard time with the flying tackle, but i think with a bit of fiddling with it i should get it to work. i know how to do the claw scratch one, and the fire one. not sure what to do with the berserk yet tho. each of the attacks will only work if the cursor is on that item, but each work with keydown "F".

i also set it up so that the items you get in boxes and stuff laying around, it activates the item slot (like picking up an item). then you can use it. you can use a green or blue crystal to shoot the red blocks, then you can move through the level and it cycles back to the beginning.
