You can use any picture you like. Download, scan, whatever. Just create a new actor, right click on the actor, choose actor control - then when the window comes up choose "add animation" - then browse for your picture. Maybe you should take a look at the documentation to learn the basics on getting started. Good luck.

You have to be careful if you're going to download images from the net for use in your games, most stuff is (C) copyrighted, which means that you cant use it without getting expressed permission, if you dont you risk being taken to court.

Some people here use MS Paint to create images, this comes with all versions of windows (i think) and some use paid for art packages. I use Paint Shop Pro which does averything I need. But if you want a free and powerful image suite to create your artwork you could alot do worse than try Gimp ( http://www.gimp.org/ ).

Try (in Game Editor) clicking on 'Help' -> 'Demo' -> 'Getting Started' -> 'Adding Animations'

When you add an 'Animation' it doesnt have to animate, just load one image in and make sure Horizontal and Verticle frames are set to '0' to make an actor appear as a static object.

If you want to make animations a good place to start is by editing the existing ones, it'll help you understand how it all works.

As far as I remember there are lots of step by step tutorials in the help section, even in the trail version.
