The limit is 1,000,000 pixels in each direction (at least on the x axis).
I tried it out. If you drag your screen across that limit, your position will automatically be *-1. Yes, it loops.

@factorman: On awesome computers that can handle anything, a higher fps rate increases the speed of the game.
But there is no such computer, so you have to find a nice framerate that satisfies the player's eyes and doesn't demand too much from the hardware (which, amongh other things, causes the game to lag).

he can choose to not use quoting :|

also
kall you actually dragged you screen to 1million? that must have taken a.. rather long time, even when zoomed out. and it loops you say?
i must try it to be sure, i wanna see this for myself.
then i will try making a test to see what happens if it drops below that 1,000,000. heheh

you know your bored when...

[EDIT]
i tried it, it didnt take as long as i thought, but the limit seems to be
[y axis] -1048545 to 1048575
[x axis] -1048576 to 1048544

but that is when its zoomed out to the maximum, i tried zooming in around that point and the numbers seemed to glitch up
when i zoomed in on the x-axis limit, the numbers changed to 26,140 and i had warped back to the middle again. However i think that is because of the zooming, not being at the grid extents.

[EDIT2]
I tried something new. i brought the view all the way to the bottom y-axis limit, and found out that if you bring it across the loop at the bottom, then try to take it back over, it disappears completely. So my game now has no view actor, but i can still press game mode. I cannot see anything at all except for a blank screen. I made an actor and set it to infinite, and the Game Mode screen was still black. None of the actors showed up.

I'm pretty sure the limit was 1,000,000. I can try again tomorrow.

were you trying it while zoomed out to maximum?
because it seems to change depending on what zoom level you are on

Yes, but I don't think it changes, but the view slightly changes position.
Though, as far as I can see, the position panel detects that.

Going back on the timer being independent compared to the frame rate, this always sucked on my old computer, I had a game made with a timer to reach the finish line, Well near the end I had a nice few actors loaded on screen, well needless to say my frame rate dropped but the timer was unchanged........I ended up not reaching the goal due to the frame rate

@Speck:
lol
i had the same problem on my old computer too. but now my new one is epikly fast

@Kall:
hmm
i know the view changes when you zoom, but i scrolled back to the boundary again after i zoomed in and it was different. But not by a lot. Most likely because when you are zoomed out farther it is very hard to get pixel perfect.

it is definatly over 1,000,000 tho =\

What really is the end of the GE grid?
Does it have an end or does it go on forever?

Make a text actor.
In his draw set textNumber to x. Leave the actor in the center of the screen.
create a variable called m. assign it a value of 1
set keypress spacebar to m=m*-1
set keypress A to x +=100,000*m
set keypress s to x +=10,000*m
set keypress d to x +=1,000*m
set f to 100*m, g to 10*m, and h to 1*m

Run the game. Pressing these keys will find the end pretty quick.
When the number suddenly gets smaller, press spacebar once and the keys will remove points from x. Press space again to count upwards.

You could even make it automatic.
