If you delay posts like that, people won't contribute as much. People want to see their posts added immediately, that's part of the motivation.

Also, time is a huge factor, it wouldn't make sense to ask Makslane to review each and every post. But it won't be hard to find moderators that can be trusted.

If i were making a forum, i'd set it up the way fuzzy said. A general area for anyone and a permanent area where good posts are moved to (and trusted users can perhaps post on freely) that becomes the main content of the site. It would be up to the moderators together to arrange this area in a sensible way - making the information easily accessible and redundancy-free.

Its good to make this change, as permanent html files aren't flexible and don't grow with the users.

I can see we have great strategies to make the work.
Now, We need to found a good tool to make the integration :-)

If we were going based off this would the magic number still be 30?

This ones a pretty good idea too :)

I don't know if we should make that depend on score. Those trusted persons should be people who makslane has been watching for over the past years and have proven trustworthy and sensible. Makslane should personally and carefully select them (anyway, that's my opinion).

Of course everybody should get the opportunity to participate and get his stuff through.

I see how this is a good idea, but I can also see how MUCH could go wrong.

One possible method (and perhaps this is what wordpress does?) is simply a frontend for the forum that allow someone to 'browse the forum in learning mode'. The frontend sorts the posts by content so only chosen posts show up (When you view it that way).

We have the issue with places like the wiki, of 1. having to resay stuff that's already been said on the forum and 2. the difficulty in expressing it out of context. The posts on the wiki, with limited pictures, demos, etc. (not to mention that black and white look (ugh)) are just harder to express what you're trying to express about a GE game, sometimes.

While some people say 'code is code', the truth is, a GE game is unique among all programming projects, and helping users express and understand information about it.....that's the key.

What do you see going wrong?

Also, forum points aren't really a good way to measure the caliber of a user. Just because someone has many points doesn't mean their code is good code for newbies to learn. Although, i'm not really sure how to measure that either. It seems like it has to come down to a panel of 'ge experts' calling the shots. People who know the forum, know the code, and 'know a good post from a bad post when they see it'. (and who aren't jerks).

Also, MONKEYS!

May be an idea! Format the selected forum posts in a blog format.

In a weeks time I could make a revamped website for gameditor. I'm currently finishing up my games levels and ill have a little time after that. Something nice that could make it stand out more, remember mostly everyone judges a book by its cover!

Just let me know the style your looking for, in comparison to say other Game Engine websites and I'll come up with an idea.

Thanks for the help OmniArts!
Now I'm trying to see what is the most suitable framework (or CMS) to use in the site.
May be, the wiki with a good WYSIWYG editor and a nice look will be good!

I think this skin is better than the default mediawiki skin:
http://game-editor.com/wiki/index.php?t ... in=blender
http://game-editor.com/wiki/index.php?t ... in=blender

Look also the rich edit control (you must select the blender skin in your preferences page). You don't need to learn the MediaWiki tags!

To me, this can be the new look of the main site.
What you think?
