Hey watsupp you guys if you dont know me i well all i have to tell you is that my primary goal in GE is to make the original sonic in HD
why? because why the hell not? the game itself is amazing and how about we give it a bit of our GE skills and enhance the graphics from 16-bit to 32 bit?
I do know the game is EXTREMLY difficult to do because it has a lot of function that cant be really emulated in GE
BUT WE CAN DO IT!
yeah i have seen on the site many ways to make a lot of the original moves come to life.
the spindash is based on a succesion of pressed keys and ge let you use that with the pressing order function (everything will be explained better later)
and a lot of other moves are actully pretty basic.
now you might be sceptical and say: "Yo dawg how can youz say dat? you dun know how difficult that is"
well i do actually :P and that is because some of you guys may know that i already started making that game a LONG time ago.
But i am back in the buisness and wish to make this even better.
For that i am starting from scratch all over again and i am willing to work on this a lot.
Finally what i really want to say is that if you wish to assist me i would be so happy if you do.
You dont need to be a master at coding for this because i already know what is needed but i am pretty sure brainstorming ideas will eventually help us.

Sonic is a classic game. How far along would you say Sonic GE is?
Any chance we can see a progress video on youtube or something? Just to get an idea of what the game will look like in action and the fast scroll speeds possible. Thanks.

How did you like Sonic Generations? I enjoyed the levels, but the hub area held back the flow of the game since you were stuck unless you figured out something or got a certain item.

Sonic GE has one major problem that keep it down.
The game itself need a lot of time to create every single map again and the problem is that you have to make the bosses and each one has a different pattern.
the good thing is that once i finish the very first stage for the game it will be easy to make the others since all i have to do is make the maps again all that is left is change the animation and put new enemies.
Now my major concern is also the ammount of coding the game will take. I cant afford to use a hundred action seperatly for sonic and all the enemies so i am going with a STATE,BRAKE system where all the actions are controlled in the Draw actor scrpit.
now the problem with that that i have to create every animation for each STATE and know how to put them in action depending on the action it is supposed to do.
plus as you mentioned i need to configure the fast scrolling abillity of the screen which isint so difficult it goes like this:
1- sonic has three speeds in game which all work independently the longer you press the mouvment button the faster you go and there is a speed limit too
2- for the WALKING cycle lets say sonic moves at x=5 inthat case i make a script on the move.view actor which says if sonic.speed=5 then move.view=5
3- the same thing goes for the running cycle which in that case is x=10 and finally the super speed where sonic goes at x=20
i hope this lets you understand how this work but do not worry i will make seperate demos for each action like the speed controll, the spin roll, and also hitbox system
But if you want to know one thing the progression of JUST ACT 1 OF HILLZONE the very first stage is at 5% . i still didnt really work alot cuz i just have one final exam which is keeping me down but after that i willget back to making the game sonic fast.
In case anyone want infos on some actions or my ideas on how to make some certain game systems just ask in the comments and i will tell you what i am thinking

Definitely a challenging project, especially with other obligations in life. One small step at a time and you can get there though. 5% is better than 0%, so keep it going if you can! 8)

Also consider adding your own new ideas to the game or enemy locations to offer a slightly new experience compared to a carbon copy of the original, though that's your decision of course. If going for an exact replica, that is a unique challenge too. As with any game development: Have fun with the project and it'll be easier to complete. :)

I need to set some time aside for my newest game, but finding free time is not always easy.
