Dark Hole the huge group project.

It seems as if you guys voted for me to do Dark Hole. With this, you are saying you want people to work together to make one huge game. I have decided one thing though. Every group project I have seen has been given up on, and if we do this, you stick with it, and don't quit it. Dark Hole is a space exploration game. Three galaxies are allowed to be entered. When you enter the Dark Hole, you are allowed access to the Messier 51, or Whirlpool Galaxy. Later on, you will gain access to the Milky Way's neighboring galaxy, Andromeda Galaxy. Lastly, you are allowed access to the Milky Way Galaxy. These are all real galaxies. Your goal is not yet decided, but some ideas I had for this game include:

-Money Systems
-World ownership (This is not no easy feat. When you are about to enter a planet, some info is shown. It also tells you how much the planet's value is. You must be a person that has good history in this planet. Also, you must do every main quest on the planet. You must also beat the main storyline. Also, the council of that planet must favor you to be there owner)
-Online game-play????

Not much ideas at the moment, but I just need time. Be careful on choosing to join because this is a serious game, and I want everyone to stick with it.

I would like to join but I'm at a location with not great internet for a while. I love that your wanting to have real galaxies and such, I am a big fan of Astronomy, so I would like to see this project blossom. You gotta' have the Sombrero galaxy :), also for exploring galaxies you should come across nebulas and then solar systems and then planets, I think that's how far it's broken down into.

I want to get one of my two planned doctorate degrees in astronomy. I am only going to start with these galaxies because I don't want this to get too huge. Maybe if it works well, then I will add in more. Of course solar systems would have to be first than planets and galaxies are too huge to make it where I add in everything in it. Oh and of course jobs are split as if this was a real game, but people are allowed to be have more than one job. Since people voted for this game, I hope they help work on it too. This is unreasonable for now, as with the active user counts, but I want twenty people and up to work on this.

Okay that is great. I want to get graphics first, then work on engines. So Master as you are the first to join as a graphics artist, what suits you best. Leading the whole production of the graphics, leading the production of one of the three galaxies' graphics, or just being someone who works on the graphics of one of three galaxies and nothing more? As for you Phyzix, we must either start with the currency system while we wait for graphics or something else that you want to do since you are the first to join my project.

I am going to write design document today and maybe finish it in a couple of days. Then phyzix, I am going to have you edit it and give opinions on it if you wouldn't mind doing that.

After you edit it, and it is fully completed, we will print it out, if you can, it will be something that I would want you to do, but if you can't, it is understandable, and then we do whatever for two weeks, and come back to it, and see if we still like the idea.

Design documents are living documents. That is to say, they aren't really ever finished. They will keep being changed and added to as you work on the game. Game design isn't something you can just layout, and get it right before you even start. It wouldn't be much fun that way. And one person shouldn't be in charge of the document, everyone in your team will contribute to it, as everyone has ideas. The group dynamic isn't all about assigning roles for people to take, it is also about the project, and what the group members can do to improve it. Because of all that, you should write the document in some place where all group members can view it and most importantly add to it.
