Preloading levels

Postby robin.deman » Tue Aug 29, 2006 9:08 am

Hi everybody,

Anybody got an idea how to load an level before running it.

I mean, when i look at other games for mobile devices, i get the idea they are preloading an level or menu before launcing it.

Otherwise i wouldn't understand why they make an loading screen in the game?

Anybody got an clue what im talking about?

There is no pre loading, but a slow load.
Look the Checkers demo. The whole game take a time to load in slow devices, so, you create a region around a single text 'Loading' that is fast to load, and, in the Loading text, move the view to the real game position.

In this time, the user will see the Loading screen while you game is load.
