Copy & Paste from script editor?

1. Is there a way to copy and paste text to and from script editor?

2. Is there away to backspace in script editor?

How tricky would it be to be able to assign the script editor to an external program such as notepad?

You could still have the normal one for minor tweaks but include a "notepad" button for more major surgery...

External programs may be considered, but a better internal editor will be great
