Another C++ question

Ok, I have a complier thing, and Im getting sick and tired of doing stupid "Hello world" commands. What I really want to know, is how to get an image (prefferably bmp or png) appear on the screen. Or perhaps more importantly, how to make a window pop up, instead of that old-looking black box thing with a gray outline. Ive searched high and low on the internet, but I cant find a code that will work! Every time I try a sample code, there is an error message. Anyway, I'll give a point to anyone who can answer the question.

I need to know the exact name and version of your compiler and the operating system you are using. For instance Visual Studio.net C++ 2002. Make sure you tell me the language too, then I can help you out.

Im using visual c++ 2008 express edition. Dont ask why its 2008... Oh yeah, and my title is Another C++ question, so I dont think I have to tell you the language.

Lol good point. Alright well what I am going to give you tells you how to do it with Visual C++ Express 2005. Hopefully they are simlar. Read the HOW TO COMPILE.TXT in the follwoing zip file:

I'll warn you now, that whenever there is a Microsoft word involved the process is difficult and takes hours. I used the above engine to write my computer games and they would take years and never finish. Now I can do it in hours thanks to Game Editor. It's awesome! I have never met Markslane, but he must be one heck of a guy.
