Want to get the source?

Vote to the poll if you want to get the source codes!
If there's any interest for them, I'll go through the codes, add comments to them and then share the whole project with you all! :)

Hello all!

This project has been paused for a long time because I got frustrated with the window system being so
complicated to use and the resolution started to bug me because it started to seem way too small to me.
Now I've worked on a new window system, which allows resizing the windows.
The work has turned out well, and I think I may be able to continue this project.
I will still have to start it from the very beginning again, because my coding skills have grown and the style I made the old one
with is very messy and the resolution change also makes me to start it from the beginning.

Now you will get to test the very first demo of the new window system and the new resolution, please tell me is this resolution ok for you or not.
It's quite difficult to try to find some good universal resolution which would look good on most screens.. If anyone can tell me what would be the best resolution, I'd be very thankful!

Remember, this is just the little demo to show that the windows are now resizeable and there is bugs and I know
what they are. I just wanted to show you that this thing may now get a little better chances to get finished. :D

I wish to get to work more on the project now, so I could some day finish it :D

Hey, the new update looks great! :D

One problem though. The new resolution doesn't work on my laptop. It's too wide :(

But I look forward to seeing what comes next :P

Thanks man!
The resolution problem is really irritating..

It seems that I have to try to find a way to make the thing work in different resolutions so everyone can export it to their resolution.
That will mean a lot more work though..

I wonder if anyone knows of a good basic resolution which would look good on at least 80-90% of screens :D
That would make all so much easier :D

The standard 640x480 resolution should work fine on any computer

Yeah, but it looks bad, and there is very little space for things on screen -> everything has to be little

That is the main problem with 640 x 480
Thanks anyway :D

Well the only thing you can do is to export several screen sizes and allow the player to choose on first startup (using a 640x480 so everybody can run it). Then default it to the size they picked. It's a little messy, but I can't think how gE could make this easier without making rather large changes.

I'm pretty sure that 800x600 and 1024x768 are supported by all monitors theses days

Oh yeah, I think 800x600 would work too :D

Hello again, here's a new update on the new window system, please take a look and tell me your opinions! =)

The graphics have changed a little,
there's now a close window -button and you can open many windows. (Click the computer icon to open My Computer, you can't do anything with the folders - yet! ;D)
And I have added a little folder icon that can be printed in between the text - this will be used in the folder exploring when I get to it.

Also, you may notice that I have changed the way the windows are built, in the previous version the texts were text actors, in this version I have 93 clones of 1 normal actor, one clone for each character in ASCII system. Each clones' cloneindex is the same as the ASCII characters number that it represents. This way, I can draw the letters simply by finding the ASCII number and then calling draw_from() to draw the right clone! :D

So, as you see, this time I am going to make the windows fully through canvas. One canvas that draws them all.
It's much simpler this way than to have many normal actors and text actors forming a single window.
I think I can get the windows to work as I want quite easily.
