App Store GE Apps

Postby dapeeper » Fri Jun 17, 2011 10:16 pm

I notice that there is no "sticky" thread for this category.

Since Mobile apps are the rage now and GE can produce perfectly good iOS apps, I vote that there is a sticky thread where people who have successfully submitted apps to the App store can post details about the app.

I know the Home page has links to 3 such apps but certainly there are others? The Home page can then have a link to this thread. At the moment to search for such apps is all over the forum.

Also I notice that almost all the apps so far produced are for the iPhone and not for the iPad. While you can use these on the iPad, it does not make use of the full iPad screen and resolution. Apparently it is quite possible in XCode to make a setting and generate a "universal" app that expands to full screen on the iPad, yet fits a iPhone screen as well. Most new apps take advantage of this facility.

If anyone can point me to any thread where these iOS apps are showcased, then I will be thankful. After all it is great advertisement for GE that it can produce iOS apps and also for the game developers as it is free advertisement for their development.

And please recompile and resubmit your apps to make them Universal.

Currently there is no topic devoted to all the iOS apps that have been made with gameEditor. makslane for some reason is against the idea, and since he is the only admin, he is the only one that can sticky topics. We've been wanting to create either a topic like you suggest and/or a devoted section for iOS related things.

With the right settings you can have the iphone apps expand to ipad res, but it usually turns out pretty badly. I can't speak for all of the apps, but Kid Krusader supported ipad but the graphics were horrid. Also there aren't many ipad apps as most of those that can and want to make apps for the most part don't have ipads, so we stick to the devices we can test.

Well, for now I made a page on the wiki that has all of the games that I could think of. I might have forgotten one or two though so if you see one missing do tell me. I haven't formatted the page, and might add more to it, but for now here it is.

ipad doesn't have buttons. On screen controls are one of the the main reasons people don't make games for iphone/ipad.

Thanks skydesign. That should do for a start.

After all anyone coming to Game-editor.com should be able to see what it is actually capable of with regard to graphics and game play.

However the link you posted is now buried in this forum topic and will soon be lost unless there is a proper link to the page on the main site. At this time I can see the only link to that page is from the link you posted in this topic and as such it might as well not be there because anyone visiting the site will never see that page.

So is it possible to add a link to the main page that leads to this new page?

Thanks

I know this topic will be buried, this wasn't supposed to fix that, as only makslane has the power to do that. But there is already a link to that page on the main page. On the left side where it shows the app store games, the top has a link to the full list.

I think a page on main site is better then a forum thread for this subject!

It was added to the complete list, but I just added it to the main site (there are too many to put on the main page which is why they aren't all there). And why can't there be both a page on the wiki and a topic on the forums? We all know the wiki is not an often visited place, and it definitely lacks the community enthusiasm. Forcing information onto the wiki and refusing its exposure here usually results in making it an unused reference.

No new sections, no sticky to the wiki,no iphone developers section, etc. Its like not giving a plant water but expecting to grow , it's not going to happen. If you want more money in your wallet , you have to stay ahead of the game , not behind it. How do you expect new iphone developers to come without iphone developers section Makslane , if you went to school to learn how to program and didnt see the class your looking for would you attend the school? No you look for the school that has the class you need to learn , right. Well if Iphone developer comes here and see's no deticated iphone section guess what ? He will dismiss this as an expiremental tool and not a serious one. Do you understand ?
