New Pocket PC and Smartphone Emulator

Postby trajecto » Sat Jun 03, 2006 2:36 am

Check out the new Standalone Device Emulator by Microsoft, it's free: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C62D54A5-183A-4A1E-A7E2-CC500ED1F19A&displaylang=en

This is a great way to test if you do not have the devices.

For Smartphone: From within the emulator, select File -> Configure. Here you set up a shared directory with your PC. This is where you will place a copy of your executable. Use the smartphone emulator file explorer to explore the storage card. Your executable resides there to be launched. Pocket PC is a similar setup.

I have a little tutorial that shows it here but this is Pure C coding, not GE, the emulator is shown though: http://www.trajectorylabs.com/win32_shartphone_dialog_based_application.html

Enjoy!

You can apparently actually "cradle" the emulator using activesync and it then reacts like any other Windows Mobile device in activesync, i.e. you can copy files to it, run standard PPC installations etc

And it works great!

Did you use the V1Emulator.zip?
if so, than i gues you also downloaded efp.msi.

Dont forget to also download Virtual Machine Network Driver for Microsoft Device Emulator. Otherwise it wont work.
