which extension?

GE allows u to use picture extensions like bmp, jpeg, gif, tiff, png, etc. but which one is the best to use?
if u use jpeg, u may notice that the pixels don't stay the same color. GE reads the color in the upper left corner as the color it must erase from the image, so this will cause a blurry white aria to appear around the actor
if u use gif, several colors will be lost.
bmp is ok, but it is a large file type and will take a lotta memory.
the best extension is PNG! this keeps solid colors but it is a lot smaller than bmp

indeed =D
png also has the advantage that it keeps all the transparency.

as for the sound and music extensions:
wav is good for sound effects, but is fatal if used as music, because of its high quality and enormous need of memory.
ogg is great if used as music. high quality but low memory required.
mp3 and wma are not allowed in GE
midi sounds a little dry on normal computers but is very compatible and isn't memory-consuming at all! but it's only instruments and no sound effects.

and why were the modules left out? I feel offended :lol:
MOD, IT, S3M and XM
These are like MID files, about the same size, but offers better quality music and also you can have more complex music as well.

This is what I recommend the most as a music file, but only when you can. Since these are module files and music file like ogg can't be converted to those formats.

Also a plus with this is Pocket PC and other hand held stuff support these as well, while midi is not.
Programming games is an art,
    Respect it.
