Technically, yes. It would be possible to use some SaveVar/LoadVar magic over a service like dropbox for player-to-player multiplayer. This is basically useless though, and would only be even the tiniest bit useful for a slow turn-based game.

here and gotten this same answer. Honestly, the dropbox method is the only way to do anything like this. Proper multiplayer just isn't viable at the moment.
So the answer is "technically, yes, but practically, no."
As a feature request, this has been worked on and like every other useful feature, could eventually be added in the future.
