Posting Questions

Postby desertgamer » Thu Jul 17, 2008 2:23 am

I looked around the forum for the question I wanted answered, but couldn't seem to find what I was looking for. So here's the question:

Could you post the exported version of your game on the forum, like under the General category... just to get some critique on your game? I was just wondering... I'd like to post a game of mine for people to just play, so I could get their own opinions of it...

Oh, I was also wondering something else. Is it OK to post games with sounds that came from the forum demos? It's amazing how much more fun games can be with audio!

generally exported version of games are posted in the Game Development section, if you want people to comment or beta tes for you..

also in general, if a game has been posted as a demo, (in the demo section) usually the audio and some graphics are available for others to use in their demos (not final games) unless the poster says otherwise.. as they are usually already freeware or public domain items the author found elsewhere..

games posted in the "game development" area are usually those the author wants to keep for themselves..

that said... just double check the posts about that particular demo, to see what was said about reuse,. or if the author claims to have made the music/sounds/graphics themselves, and if you are still not sure, ask about that particular item within the post for the that particular game itself.. most of the time, the author will have already said something about allowing others to use stuff in their posts about the demo.

also, if you do use something another member has 'made', it is considered good form to give them the credit....

hope that helps
