NOTE: I was not able to upload pictures into the post for you guys to follow along with because my internet is really slow and it wouldn't let me. However, I did upload a zip with all the images you will need so make sure to download it (you'll need it)
Hey guys :D
I'm sure that some of you have done this in GE before but I decided to make a tutorial anyways. For this tutorial you will need GE (of course) and some sort of image editing software (like ms paint). First, you want to make a image like the "LightTile" image in the zip.
Note that there is a white line across the top and side. This will tell GE to make all of the white invisible when you load it into your game. Also note that the spotlight does not cross over the middle of the image. This is important as you will see later on. Now you should make another picture like the "LightSprite" image in the zip.
Nothing special about this one. Just a normal lamp :)
Now for the fun part. Open your game in GE and create an actor called "LightTile" or something similar. Add the "Light Tile" animation and make sure that "x" is set to 2 and "y" is set to 1. Once it is added, open the "actor control" panel and set the Z Depth to something very high and set Transparency to something almost as high (make sure that you can see through the light pretty well but don't make it invisible). And after that, click "tile" then click "single tile" then click "draw tile". Then. You should end up with something like "tutorial1.png" in the zip.
Now make an actor called "Light sprite" or something similar. Add the "Light Sprite" animation and open "actor control panel and set the Z Depth to the highest setting. Then use the tile function again and add a lamp to the top of each spotlight. The final result should look like "tutorial2.png" in the zip
I hope this was useful. :P
Post any questions you have here.
