Trial/Full Version Question.

Postby Squirrelman » Thu Apr 17, 2008 6:01 pm

Hi, I downloaded this abut 2 weeks ago to try it out, I haven't really done much yet but saw someone say that the trial isn't limited to 30 days anymore. is it a 30 day trail still or permenent?

Second question is I don't want to buy the 95$ full version because I don't plan on using it much. If i'm using the trial version can I still send it to other people that have GE so they cna play it? (I'm in a game development class and would like to show them whatever I make)

And finaly whats diffirent in the full version? Just curius really, I know you can save them as .exe files instead of GE files so that you can use them on everything basicaly (If I read right). which is a big diffince of course, but is anything else diffirent?

Oh 1 more thing, has anyone actually ever sold anything they made on this? I didn't think anyone still payed for games like what you can make with this anymore, with all the free online arcades. since i'm in school to majoring in game development it would probably be good to know this stuff. lol

Thanks in advance.

The full version generate games for Windows, Pocket PC / Windows Mobile, Handheld PC, Windows Mobile-based Smartphones, GP2X and Linux

While the free online games are addictive (I'm catacomber9 on one : ) ), people still like to play on their handhelds and cellphones. I think the smartphone is the future of gaming along with online gaming and development of devices like the wimo. You could have a very satisfying future in gamemaking, depending on your interests and talent (which can be developed if you have the interest). : )

If you can develop a game or better yet game series that people like, you can make money at gamemaking. Not necessarily enough to be outside the Indie label (250,000 USD a year : ) ) but enough to be happy and cover your expenses. The gaming field is a very exciting place and there are more and more markets each year and more demand. It's imho the most creative of the arts because it combines so many of the arts and is interactive. You should look at Gamasutra, look at the indie developer sites. I've been making only expansions for a game I worked on and have made a modest income over the past year, at least enough to plough back into gamemaking and buy software applications (like Game Editor : ) ). You should learn as much programming as you can and try to hook up with others who are interested in making games with you. I have a partner who handles the business side of things while I do the programming. We share in the storywriting but we have networked with people so we have someone who does some music, a variety of people who have done some art for us. We're little but growing slowly and we enjoy wholeheartedly what we do, which is the best part. : )
