How to make an in-game demonstration?

Postby DST » Wed Mar 26, 2008 3:29 pm

I couldn't find anything in the forum about making a demo in the game.
One where the character runs around and chops things and 'press start' flashes in the middle of the screen.
Is there a way to record key input and replay it? Or something like the GE tutorial files that move themselves?
It seems like it would add a lot to a game.
It's easier to be clever than it is to be kind.

Well, every user input can be coded too. But to have more freedom, use "fake" actors of the real actors and paths, premade effects etc depending on your game.
I can't die, I already tried

you could also try make a CPU controlled player that runs through the levels.
but the you'll have to make some switches that make him jump before he bashes his nose flat on the wall.
and installing those thingies takes a lot of time.
