Game Editor Programming Contest by dy studios

Postby dybot » Thu Apr 28, 2005 6:11 pm

dy studios is in need for a platform engine for a story driven platform game. It's not just another platform game It will feature voice acting.

Click here to see the temp cover

It would be preferred if he main character could walk / run / crouch / jump / Climb ladders / prone, look up and down although the crouch and prone are not as important.
The preferred arsenal would be
1. Some rifle like m16
2. A knife
3. A side arm, for example Beretta
4. C4 for special missions but it does not need to be part of the arsenal, just to be triggered on location needed to blow up.

The sprites will all be composed from video captured images so you don't need to worry about creating good looking graphics for your project as they would get replaced anyway.

Winning Price of $USD 400 + getting your name tagged to the best Game Editor project to date and also what's probably going to be the best platform game for the PocketPC yet. If you don't have licence for Game Editor Professional and you make a good project I could use you will ofcourse get your own licence for GE Pro free.
If things go well; a position on dy studios for the next project and share of the profit if any.

To submit your technology preview please compile an executable for either Windows Mobile ARM or desktop Windows and upload it to your favorite hosting service. If you have problems finding online storage please contact me via e-mail. Do not e-mail me the executable file without me accepting it first.

:?

G'day mate. :)

Your project is interesting.

I like the fact that the graphics are supplied.

I think a lot about platform games. A good stable engine is something I have attempted a few times now. I have solved a few problems but do not have an "elegant" system thus far.

I would love to see some game sprites.
Controlling complexity is the essence of computer programming.
