I think stress could definitely be one of the hindrances, but I don't want to cause problems if it is done.

We are creating the enemies to represent themes or qualities in buddhism. Anger is the equivalent of hate and stress isn't one of the 5 hindrances in the buddhist canon but the meaning of Dukkha, often translated as suffering, encompasses stress and other things.

Oh... I didn't know that the five hindrances were an actual thing, I've just looked in Wikipedia! Even cooler that it actually is part of Buddhism.

Haven't heard from the team in a few days. Hope everything is alright. If you are still working on this game just give a quick "hello" so we know where we stand.

New Build:
http://cl.ly/291t3v1b33162J1U2G2d

Added
- More terrain
- Fixed warp glitch
- Some code rewritten and revised

If you encounter the monk going through the floor while in preview game mode, this is a GE bug. You can either exit GE and reopen it or export it to an executable. Both of these things should fix that problem.

As of this moment this project has been cancelled for the following reasons.

1. No one seems to be interested in continuing the project either because they are too busy or because they have not produced any work.
2. Apparently, some of you are not happy with the jobs that have been assigned to you but no one has spoken to me about it.
3. Very few of the projects I have assigned to people have been completed.
4. There is on-going communication between two team members which has it's basis in preventing any progress from taking place.

I don't understand why there is a general belief that there is nothing to do when I have made repeated requests for animations, characters, and levels to be made. Although some people say they will complete these tasks, weeks pass and nothing gets done. I have been working on this game 10+ hours almost every day, I come on the chat and thread every day, but no one has attempted to communicate their concerns to me.

Last night a request was made to re-mapout/re-plan the first level design, but the person who appointed themselves in charge of that task only asked me three questions about the level and then had to log off.

I thank you guys for your time and effort on this project. Whatever art or assets you made for the game are yours and you own all copyrights. Whatever art and code I made are mine and I own all copyrights respectively.

If you have any questions please let me know. Let's keep this profession and I wish you all the best of luck.

Sent you a private message, hoping you'd join the chat to talk about some of these issues instead of publicly posting about them.

You have to really understand that creating a game takes a lot of time, effort and planning involved. It's more complicated than "lets make the first level". It is a slow a droll process starting out. Without proper preparation even the best ideas/games will fall apart. Right now we are trying to plan all the events. I understand the need for artwork, textures and programming code are important, but without a solid foundation it will fall apart just like it currently has.

Basically right now it has currently been a 3 man team, you Phyzix, Master0500 and me, you have to understand that we can't keep up with all the demands on a daily basis with work/time constraints etc. And for the most part Master0500 has been doing an excellent job keeping up with the art while I on the other hand have been bogged down with work and family issues.

And this is why overall we need a generalized game plan, we understand what the general scope of what the game is but not the details.

Thank you for responding. I was careful not to mention any names as to not hurt anyone's reputation and I will still not mention any names. The whole game is already planned out, this not an RPG or a story driven game. It's a platformer with light puzzle elements. The majority of the details have been worked out. I understand some people have been busy with work and family but it's been several weeks and I still don't have a single enemy animated or terrain done. It doesn't take a lot to animate a single character, especially when we have the parts in separate layers.

If someone didn't like their job or wasn't in agreement of how things were being handled they should have come to me, but instead I find an offensive manifesto and hurtful words in the chat room about how things SHOULD be. We don't have a big team and we don't have departments so we depend on each other to pick up multiple responsibilities. As with any job, there are things we are going to have to do that are tedious and not very fun but they still need to get done.

Like I said, I thank you guys for all the work and assets you did produce. But I feel like this relationship, at this moment in time, is not going to work.

Here is what was said:
<XXXXXXXXXX› ‹phyzix5761› But we need to do it quickly so we can start working. I don't necessarily agree with all this planning but I am willing to do it as long as we get to work quickly.
‹AltruismIsDead› :- /
‹AltruismIsDead› can't say I agree with that completely
‹master0500› quoted by phyz
‹AltruismIsDead› I think we both are on the same boat, where we don't know exactly where this is going
‹AltruismIsDead› and as far as the first level, wouldn't you think phyzix would be in charge of it?
‹XXXXXXXXXXXX› yeah
‹AltruismIsDead› it's basically the level that sets the pace of the entire game,
‹AltruismIsDead› the tutorial, puzzles, just the whole general feel of the game
‹AltruismIsDead› which is all in his head, we are basically art directors
‹XXXXXXXXXXXX› read it
‹XXXXXXXXXXXX› he seems stuborn
‹AltruismIsDead› yeah
‹AltruismIsDead› sorry was busy with family stuff
‹AltruismIsDead› see he thinks that people get lazy and go off doing other things because of that
‹AltruismIsDead› but when it really comes down to it, if everyone knows what they are doing besides bits and pieces then stuff gets done
‹XXXXXXXXXXXX› yeah
‹AltruismIsDead› originally when I signed up I told him I'd be into the art work, for enemies, npcs, animations etc
‹AltruismIsDead› now he has me doing level design, textures, puzzle design, organization etc
‹XXXXXXXXXXXX› i said i would do backgrounds and stuff
‹AltruismIsDead› this is stuff that should have either been planned ahead of time before the game was announced or have teams of people wanting to work on those concepts
‹AltruismIsDead› it's like, I understand we have a small team, but don't you feel he is slightly over-burdening us with more work than what we signed up for?
‹XXXXXXXXXXXX› yeah
‹AltruismIsDead› like mentioned before, I signed up for character design/animation and now I am doing textures, level design, group meetings etc, while phyzix is sort of just basically either doing programming or needing misc stuff done
‹AltruismIsDead› he really needs to understand that planning is a huge important process
‹AltruismIsDead› I've been through plenty of teams, either trying to make a game, make mods for a game, etc, and the key thing is there was no organization which eventually made the entire team fall apart

These were the on going communications we had, it wasn't a slam against you, we were trying to do constructive criticism to help flesh out the game. I joined up on December 25th and right now it's January 8th. Within that time both Master0500 and myself have made plenty of artwork within that 2 week time frame. Basically I wasn't on the team for over a month, and for the work both Master and myself have done in that time frame has been a great amount.

Everyone has to understand people have time constraints as far as how much time they have to work on stuff, everyone that joined wants this game to succeed, for example without coordination and planning each level finished is going back to square one without any plan. Hopefully you'll jump in the chat so we can discuss what is needed to make this game and plan it out so we succeed.

I'm sorry you feel this way. I gave you a task to animate the Anger character about a week ago, I still don't have that done. So I moved on and asked you make a basic layout of the level, you sent me something which I asked you to edit. You refused and said you didn't want to do the level design.

My logic is as follows: It took you 1 day to make the monk character with full walking and jumping animation. It took you 1 day to draw the Anger character. Why is it that it has taken you over a week to produce any other work. You were on the chat for many many hours on many days but still produced no work. I FULLY explained what was needed for the first level. I delegated 1 task at a time to everyone. And the only person who completed all of their tasks was Master. Why is your task not completed? Many days you were just sitting in the chat room, presumably scratching your balls for hours on end, but you didn't produce a single image file.

And then you decide to write a manifesto where you pick at my style of leadership and explain how we should implement your way of doing things. If, perhaps, you had produced more work and not sat in the chat talking shit all day, while I busted my ass for 10+ hours every day producing art and code, testing and retesting, then maybe we could have learned a few things from what you proposed in the manifesto. But you can't come in and tell everyone to change how we are doing things when you haven't lifted a finger in a week.

I'm going to ask that you stop calling each other out on what people did or did not do. Try to keep it professional, and if you must please resolve the issues in a private matter.
