What did you want to learn as a newbie to GE?

Postby Just4Fun » Sun May 07, 2006 4:26 am

I've noticed that there are quite a few 'seasoned' GE users and a few 'C' programmers posting within this forum. Then, every now and then, I see posts from some people who are trying to get started with GE and are kind of confused.

I got to thinking (dangerous in my case) about how confusing GE was (and still can be) for me when I first started using it. It took me quite a while to even figure out how to create an Actor.

That thought made me wonder what some of you found the hardest concepts to 'get your head' around when you first began using GE? or in the case of those of you considering purchasing GE, what are you having the most challenge with?

Just my curiosity bug acting up again. TIA to those willing to debug it.
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

I think the usual game basics are the things which most people struggle to get their head around at first.

Menu screens (i.e. moving the view around)
    Multiple game levels
    Health Meters
    Player lives
    Score

Maybe the forum could do with some sticky posts giving easy answers to all the basic game mechanics?

i consider my self as a newbie, because everyone here is better then me (but that dosnt matter).

What could help a little is a small tutorial on how to use advance GEtype scripting!
