Opening and cut scene cinematics

Is there a way to add FMV (Full Motion Video) cinematics as an opening, and as cut scenes during game play? As I have read, we can't use .MP3 or .MPEG, so I would have to use a different format for the video .wmv or .mov . But is it possible to script a link to video for opening and during gameplay?

As far as I know the only way to do this is to use some sort of AVI to GIF converter, then convert the sound from the AVI (or any video format), to OGG, using AnyVideoConverter.

Problem is, thats gonna take a lot of space o3o

I think I read somewhere on here that you can just use the frames of the video and have the separate files make an animation. Then just play the sound of the video
