I always thought Hell would be a giant load screen that goes on for eternity, then one day, eons later, it would end, only to reveal a slightly different loading screen.

ha ha, sorry for the upper case'ness of the post.

I'll explain. I have been looking for a decent construction kit to teach a group of teenagers how to make computer games quickly. I came accross Game Editor and had a play with it. It is perfect apart from one thing. Our computer lab is linux only, we do not own a single copy of windows and we never will. So I'm gutted at the lack of export features for linux.

My first post here. Just found GE today and i am really impressed. I was looking for a Click&Create clone that i used on Windows for a long time. It's called Multimedia Fusion these days.

I would like to buy GE but would like a linux pro version. I still use Windows sometimes but only once every two months or so.

I know the question is asked before but will there be a Linux Pro version ever?

Thanks for the great software!!

I would buy a Linux Pro version. (My last Windows box died about 2 years ago, 100% Linux now) I would like to try to make some games for the GP2X.

yar, but I guess the reason he has not made a linux pro version is because he will have to make completely new BIN files for that,
linux writes stuff a different way than windows.
but I do believe that would be nice, even though I do not run linux anymore, it would open up more ways for people to make games with Game Editor.
but if there is a a pro version for linux(if or when he makes it)
it might not be done this year, maybe next year or later,
makslane is quite busy.

Right now (10/14/2009) I'm working on some C++ projects, but I might be able to help if you have some Game Editor questions. :)

I would immediately buy a Linux Pro version the moment it's released. It's quite ironic Windows version can make Linux executables while Linux version can't

There is a demo version for Linux, so I guess he can make a full version :P

Linux Pro version please

Postby danboid » Fri Aug 03, 2007 12:04 am

Any news on this?

I too would very much like a pro Linux version of Game Editor. Game Editor is an amazing tool but I won't seriously consider using or buying it until a pro Linux version is released. Its a shame as obviously most all functionality is already working under Linux apart from exporting binaries/ executables, hence running it under wine (if possible) seems silly.

The obvious huge bonus to getting a pro-Linux version finished would mean that versions for OSX, Solaris and the*BSDs should follow easily and game-editor would become a truly universal easy game creation platform!

Are there any plans for OpenGL (and even OpenAL) support for 2.0?
