Alpha Game demo.

Looking for people to test out a new Alpha build of a Breakout/Brick Breaking game Phyzix and myself are working on.

You can download the .GED file (and assets here:)
http://www.altgc.com/SBB07.zip

We are looking for people to test out the game and give feedback on gameplay, report bugs, all thoughts and opinions are welcome.
What you liked about the game, disliked, what improvements you would like to see, criticisms etc.

Also if anyone has geplayer for the iPhone/iPad/iPod willing to help test it out would be a huge plus.

Again you can download the Game Editor files here:

Lastly, if anyone is interested in working on the game, we are looking for level designers. If interested post a message or contact Phyzix or myself.

It doesn't come across as anything special, but depending on what your goals are for the game, I can suggest different things. But for now, I'll stick with a bug report. Your bricks are parented to one of the bricks. So if you destroy that one, they will all shake for a little bit. None of the other bricks do that so you should probably unparent them.

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. We were aware of this in the beginning, since how the stages are set up, we needed to parent them and as a result all the bricks would shake after destroying it. We were currently working it in as a feature where you gain extra points for destroying that brick.

But if it's something you dislike, or think is out of place or any opinions about it either negative or positive still would like to hear your thoughts.

We would definitely like to hear about the ideas you have for different things and suggestions. Right now this is just a "bare-bones" alpha build to work on some kinks and what not, basically the core gameplay is here, but we are working on a bunch of ideas to separate it from the basic breakout clones. If you got a chance jump in the ge chatroom.

I just tried out this game, and I just want to leave my positive feedback, I do think that if your playing on computer it would be better to not have to hold the mouse button down, for me at least, because I'm playing on a laptop with a trackpad, so it's a little annoying to hold it down the whole time. I actually like the little shaking effect after a block should be destroyed, it doesn't need to be there, but I don't think it's really a problem. I think I did run across a problem with the shaking though, it seems the view may have shaken just as the bricks do, it only lasted like a quarter of a second, I may be wrong but it seems like it may have. I haven't run across any other bugs really though. I guess in terms of feedback I would add some kind of powers or something to mix up the gameplay. Maybe have slight control of where the ball goes when a new round starts or when you die. Powers could be like the usual for this genre, a longer paddle, quickened ball speed, reversed controls, bomb, and other weapons/powers. You could probably think of some really cool unique ones though. This game looks like it has some promise, with music and some more gameplay features it would really shine.

Thanks for the feedback, Phyzix has been addressing the issue with the shaking screen. Then the Paddle controls, we've been testing it on both computer and ipod/ipad since that's the target we are aiming for.

Right now we are also working on ball control during new rounds/dying, to launch at different sides of the screen but were coming across some problems from previous builds. Then power ups, power-downs, we'll be including some of the basics, and also others we have been discussing. Right now the alpha build was just to see what people thought about the core gameplay, graphics, and such.

We've been working on some really cool new additions that hopefully will change up the whole breakout genre, within the next couple of days we should have another build out featuring some really cool and unique gameplay elements.
