GE game demos?

Postby Mordekai » Fri Sep 30, 2005 9:20 pm

I can't get GE Rally or Abuse game demos to run. I keep getting a loading error for both. I am currently using the GE 1.3.2 demo version.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'm sorry, this may sound obvious, but did you unzip the files before loading the game?

Yes the files were unzipped by using Winzip.

Is there a particular file or location that these files should be placed in?
Do I need the paid version of GE to run these?

Thanks.

No, that's what the demos are for.

For abuse its, File not found: data\laserShot*.bmp
For GE Rally its, Image load error: 'couldn't open data\red rally car turns right.gif' on 'data\red rally car turns right.gif' file

No, you can run them with the demo . . . well it works with my demo.
Another possible stupid question - did you keep the directory structure intake when unzipping (i.e. \GE Rally\data <- holds all the graphics and sound files)?

So I uninstalled/re-installed GE. Then I downloaded GE Rally again.
This is how it looks: Game Editor\GE Rally\data

I still get the same error message.

try going into the data directory and check if there is a file called "laserShot(anything).bmp"

I was creating a folder, then unzipping the file, then I would drag/drop the unzipped files all at once into the folder that I created; this method doesn't work. So, by unzipping the file, then using the 'extract' function it works.
