For the sky, use blue instead of cyan...
For the cloud, use semi transparent animation :D

jimmynewguy wrote:well the first demo for Ronnie was well, pathetic at best, but i've started with a clean slate.....i mean everything. I've only redone the character and some coding mostly but i also made some wires to go for the actual game im making called

Ronnie: The Machine

No ronnie is not a machine, the machine is the bad guy lolz. Trust me i'll actually have a plot not "ow i got hit in the head let's look for papers" what i need from you guys is tips/support. i really suck at drawing so i need to know what i can do for better tilesets (the wires are the best looking thing, that's sad....) i will keep the basic 3 areas for starters (grass, snow, and 3rd is a secret) are there any other areas that are original? i mean fire is kinda obvious i might do that. Well just tell me anything! I want to know what you guys think this will be epic, don't forget i promised i'd finish this lol! :)

as far as original areas, I have a lot up my sleeve. although, it might depend on what 'style' you want.
one idea is a cave. not exactly original, but it is almost never used
another might be a shipyard. not yet used as far as I know
an airport has not been used either.
a highway.
a train station
a gold mine
a fancy hotel
a memorial

oh, the list goes on.
No games to my name...

Well, if that is the sprite style, for Ronnie, then the tiles would need to match. Since everything is so small, there is less room for creativity, but I can try to help out. My tiles are usually 40x40, see if you like these? I can make smaller versions, or make some new ones so they better fit the theme. I guess the real trick to making tiles is to have depth with the shading. You can always cut up a tile into pieces, so when you want to use it in the game, you just combine the four pieces. That way you can keep the small tile size, and use more graphically interesting things. I always try to add a border to them, and then if room permits, add some form of design, most of these use the same one.

@ beeant
http://game-editor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7035&p=50191&hilit=ronnie#p50191
though not a very good demo cause my level desiegn (and spelling) suck (spelling has nothing to do with it but still) and the codes were pretty awfull

@j2graves (what does that mean lol)
i like some of those ideas but they would be rather hard to fit into the plot, cave could turn out nice.....

i also need to add more moves cause jump, shoot, and super jump are lame....I'm still doing the cloneing idea cause i got some good ideas for puzzles

@sky
ya i suck at tiles the most i need to work on shading alot i changed the background, next is tiles and add moves to the character :) i hope this turns out alot better than before

I'll make sure to keep this topic alive and have a new demo soon! :D

update: i upgraded my "kidie" tiles and have been working most the morning

new scene (the thing ronnie is standing in is a saver just to let you know)

i'm very pleased with how this new tileset is looking thanks to sky for inspiration! :D (i took the colors from another tileset i was looking at on the internet [studying other's work is how i learned to draw sprites period] but i drew the stuff myself, just the colors cause i liked how they looked)

EDIT: Scene updated + final

ok i changed my mine i hope this is the last scene, i put it on pixel joint just to see what people who draw often say, and apparently it sucks lol :) i also added the slam move for the player so you can break blocks beneath you (classic)

EDIT: GO TO TOP POST

Breakable block?
You mean like in mario game?
Have you tried mario game i made?

Hmm,the game looks cool,
But one more that it lacks...please add a texture to the brown ground :D
Plain like that isnt that cool (just suggestion)
By add some circle with a brighter color that spreaded randomly is enough :D

meh, i'll look into it, but i did add a breakable block(like mario but instead of hitting it w/ ur head you slam down on it :) i'm mostly focusing on gameplay for the demo-where there is a problem, i got a new computer since the old one crashed and my full ge is gone :( i saved maks pm cause i thought i could download it again, but the link is expired.....

EDIT: the link works now :D yay (don't know why it didn't before)
EDIT 2: Since upgrading to full ge, no exports will work :( not just this game, even games made by other people.....
EDIT 3: Works, demo in sig, and game-dev  though no one has commented, but 4 have downloaded it :?
