MP3 replaced by Ogg vorbis due patent issues

Postby makslane » Sat Nov 20, 2004 6:05 pm

Due to patent issues, the MP3 support has been removed and Ogg Vorbis implemented to all engines.

The Ogg Vorbis is a royaltie free music format with superior quality over MP3 format.

If you use MP3 in your games, you must convert to ogg format.

Is it a silly idea to used ogg files for sound effects?

Or should it only be used for music?
Controlling complexity is the essence of computer programming.
