How about a Game-Editor tutorial on youtube.com

Postby Tri|Ga|De » Sun Oct 29, 2006 7:24 pm

I think it would be nice with some GE tutorials on youtube.com

Anyone else thinks that?

Video tutorials

Postby Tri|Ga|De » Mon Oct 30, 2006 5:12 pm

They can allso be downloadable from this site or any other site.
It could be made by any GE user.
¨
I used video tutorials for other development tools and allways enjoyed it.

I think it sounds like a good idea! For some people that have no idea what they're doing (like me pretty much)

By the way: How are these "ingame" or "in-GE" - tutorials done? I really like them - is there any way to make ones ourselfes? Is that an extra application?

Postby Tri|Ga|De » Mon Nov 13, 2006 7:34 pm

I my self are not very strong in GE cause I have not been using it very much. I would like to though.

I can also host the tutorials on one of my websites. f.ex. http://www.tvebakken.dk

I already started doing this...

Postby defalkner » Fri Dec 15, 2006 9:58 am

I was doing it originally for myself; I am screen capturing all the tutorials built into GE and exporting them as a self contained shockwave video anyone could download and just watch. I put them on my laptop and watch the laptop next to my desktop and use it as a tutor/guide because I am having a hard time getting used to the gui/interface.

I don't know the legalities but if it's ok - I'll trans code the videos and post them on youtube. :o Otherwise I could just e-mail them. They range from 800kb - 11mb.

There all the same tutorials used under the help system. The biggest problem in GE is that you cannot "watch" a tutorial and follow along. You are forced to stop it and hope you remember and then do it yourself - thus why I "recorded" them all. Tee hee hee.

On another side note - the tutorials "making the view follow the actor" part 1-3 are buggy. When pop-up windows should appear they don't and I cannot capture them. They don't even under normal circumstances. So while the tutorials are running - you don't get to see whats going on while the mouse cursor is going around.

Lastly - if you want to "record" your tutorials use Macromedia Captivate - it works VERY well with GE.

The only person who really knows everything about GE is god...I mean Makslane. Even GE specialists could learn some nice tricks from each others by watching the videos made.
