Hello people. Well recently, I've gotten in to Golden Sun again. After playing for a while, I decided to make another game after it. I am aware of how, um, satisfactory Golden Sun Arena is. So I looked at it and took all the problems and made them better. First of all, I changed the overworld look, which now has more detail, and has rooms you can walk in. Another problem I figured out was that some sprites were way too small. So I super sized them. Another thing I'm changing, is you don't heal after every battle. The last thing I changed, is now the random battle enemies have more animations than just stand. They also have attack, and hurt.
Some features I've added are, you now have 2 fighters to use. Isaac and Garet. The enemies also can have two fighters.
I've made it so Isaac can use Venus and Mercury psynergy, and Garet uses Mars and Jupiter psynergy. Here is a list of all the attacks I've come up with so far:

Max Level = 50
Another new thing is the level system. I really didn't want to use exp points, for that is kind of too common, and the game wouldn't be too terribly long that, you won't have enough time to even reach the stronger powers. So when every you win a battle, you randomly gain a level, which randomly goes to Garet or Isaac. If you beat a boss, you for sure get 5 levels each.

THE SAVING SYSTEM

Saving lots of variables would get confusing. So to save you hit space and a menu will appear at the top of the screen. It shows your levels, health and psynergy levels as well as a save button. When you hit save, it will only save your levels, health, psynergy, and the map you are on. If you save and exit in the middle of a map, you won't be able to start at that point next time you play. Instead you'll be at the beginning of the map. This could also prevent cheating where you go into battle, exit and continue where you left off. Like you could do in the old game.

Map Types

There are 3 kinds of maps. The first is a Cinematic Map. These maps are like mini movies that carry on the story line.
Next there is a challenge map. In this map, there is a short or long puzzle you have to solve. It may be as simple as a maze, or be as hard as having to find things, or having to move objects or hit secret buttons.
The last map is a town map. In this map, you can heal, and relax before you continue your journey. You can also find secret objects to give Isaac or Garet a free level. Because of certain saving issues, you can enter a map, but never go back. So chose to leave wisely.

The last thing I added, is now there is battle text in battles, explaining what is happening.
Well this is all the info I can give out about it. What do you think? I really hope it's going to turn out good, cause it took me two or three days to get all the graphics, sound, and music.

I think there is a little mistake in the title screen. (apokalypES)

I'm pretty sure it is spelt right. If you look at Jugement's description, it says "The might of the apocalypes."

First off all I would like to say all the data files + the editor saves + the folders i'm keeping the executables in total so far into a whomping 50.2 MBs. :lol: HOWEVER, so far the folder you would need to care about is only 8.78 MBs so far.

XD - EPIC FAIL

I've got some bad news. I um well accidentally deleted the data folder. I was just trying to delete a editor file i didnt need, but somehow the data file was selected too. I tried to recover it using special programs, and only got a very few files back.
On the plus side, I've already exported all the battles, so nothing is changed there. The only thing that will be different are the maps. :roll: So anyways the release won't be for a while.

Have you tried opening the recycling bin and dragged the data folder back to the game's folder?

No, I uh... have a habbit of permanently deleting everything in the recycle bin. It's weird, the I only meant to delete an old save file I didn't need. I guess I didn't see that the data folder seemed to be selected too. Oh well, I will go ahead and refind/remake the graphics. (NOTE: I was able to recover SOME graphics, so I could use those as guides to how big I should make everything.)

OK battles are complete, but I might want to add more moves to it... I could make a new button called special moves.
But right now I'm currently in the map making process. I'm also going to change some of the music cause the at first I thought the final boss music was good, but I'll find another. Anywho, stay tuned. Once I get enough done, I'll make a trailer for it.

Alright then, I'll set up everything you need to test. I'll send you a link when it's ready.
