retro sound effect generator

Postby jimmynewguy » Thu Jun 11, 2009 12:39 am

I just found the world's greatest sound effect maker!! SFXR is a program that randomly generates, and allows you to also change many aspects of retro sound effects. The program is 48kb big, ya i know small, but powerfull. Any way it's at least worth a look at, even with a modem it'll be done in a second, with no installation. I will probablly use this for all of my sound effects now, i all ready replaced most of the ones in my game with new ones i've made in like 30seconds.
EDIT: lol forgot the file

Hey that's pretty useful. I was making a quick shooting game and i thought to myself 'wasn't there some free fx software on the forum?' and there was!

Seems like a good place to post the random explosion generator i found!

Makes some great blasts, though it helps to know how to create alpha masks for them.

And while I'm at it, another useful thing: The arcade font.

I've found 10 different versions but only one of them works properly with ge, the font arcade_n.ttf.

Here's the zip with the arcade fonts in it.

Hey Jimmy!

Just wanted to let you know that program you found is seriously awesome! I made all but one sound for my PB & Jay game with this tool! You'll probably be in the credits for this (once I actually get there).

ttyl!

@DST: The explosions are really beautiful... but something about the frames is wrong in that generator. The image size is 255x255 and yet there are 4x4 frames... which makes no sense at all and it looks accordingly weird in my games. Any ideas?
