So I'm not sure if you're still checking out on this post, but I have a big question about using GIMP...
Using the 3D program Blender, I made a model of a warrior, then took 20 images of his forward walk, 20 images of his back walk, 20 images of his left walk, and 20 images of his left walk. The reason there are so many images is because the game I'm making is at a -35 degree angle to give it a top view AND 3D feel. The problem.
Each image is in .png format.
The manual way to compile all these images into a sprite sheet is to make a single file and post each individual frame...
Well I tried this, and pretty much went insane, especially when I'd done about 30 frames since my last save and the gimp crashed. After that I started looking for better methods online and couldn't find any.
If you know of a way to efficiently compile multiple images into a single sprite sheet, that would be AWESOME! If not, then I think I'm done for... hahaha
There's not much there yet, but you can find information on my current projects here.

Try using Graphics Gale. It has options to import multiple files into a single animation, and export an animation into a single combined file.

hm... it isn't installing properly :( It worked once, but then when I closed it out it stopped working. I tried reinstalling it, but it stopped working after that. It doesn't open the software!
