yep, this system has enough juice to really play some games. Being able to bring a game to any platform can only help developers!
Would Game editor run on the new ipod touch, as some screenshots show apps running on its desktop?
That might give the GP2X some pain as well as other handheld gaming systems...

I don't know if DS development will be possible.

I would not purchase a game editor that was designed for iphone. I do not have an iphone, nor plan to get one. I would however purchase a game editor that has built in multiplayer support for 2d games. Of course I have already purchased the full version of 1.3.6 and 1.3.7 of game editor and am quite pleased with it.

I know I'm always in the minority when it comes to further porting of GE, but I would like to see GE games running reasonably on the gp2x before anything else.

The optimizations for the ARM processors will help all ARM based devices, like the GP2X, Windows Mobile devices and the iPhone (if available)

Phones are the future of gaming. And apple has always made outstanding products (after their first version is out : ) ). Everyone I know that doesn't have an iphone wants one.

So my vote stands for iphone.

I would like to see GE being able to port games for the iphone with several stipulations.

First, you need to find out if new releases for iphone need to be certified before they will be carried by major distribution channels. Getting a product certified can be an expensive process. For example, if you develope a game for the Symbian SmartPhone most of the major carriers will not even offer it for sale to their customers unless the game has been certified.

Secondly, there needs to be some kind of iphone simulator that runs on a PC. The simulator should be able to "dumb down" a cpu's speed to that of the iphone to give it realistic results (I do not know what speed the iphone's cpu runs at). This would mainly be used for testing by people that do not have an iphone to test the final version on.

I'd prefer J2ME for most mobiles over iPhone.
