Question before buying

I just have a question concerning the differences between: "Gamemaker 6.1" by Mark Overmars and "Game Editor" by Makslane before I buy Game Editor.

To those who have used Gamemaker, which software seems to make the games it creates run faster?

Can you tell us what platforms you want a comparison on? GE games run on:

• Windows (95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, 2003, XP)
• Pocket PC / Windows Mobile
• Windows Mobile-based Smartphones
• Linux

Sorry, i know nothing about Gamemaker, is it PC only?

GE (Game Editor) is made to run as fast as possible, considering it has to be able to run well on pocket pc and windows mobile. Just remember that the only way to rotate an image is to rotate it manually in an image editor, and save it to seperate files(you CAN do this automatically).
GM (Game Maker) needs a decent graphics card most of the time. GM Needs to take up a lot of CPU, but GE is EXTREMELY CPU efficient.

I had only a little look into gamemaker. The difference that I would say is the way you can create games: Gamemaker seems to aim entirely on user-friedly and quick-to-do interface. Gameditor is a bit harder to get in as a newbie. But once you are in, you have much more freedom to create really unique solutions, while Gamemaker looks more "pre-templated"

Why not just download a demo of each and decide for yourself which one is best for your application?

Personally, I tried Game Maker for all of about 20 minutes and I just didn't care for the interface nor did I like what I saw going on in the forums.

Game Editor is the best blend of ease, power and support for me.

Software is like most clothing: One size doesn't fit all. Many of us have a closet full of selections. Some we just like better than others...

The Game Editor forums are a lot more "cosy" than the Game Maker forums
