Simple Sim Type game

I want to create a simple simulator game for running a business. It will be educational in nature and used in workshops.

Graphics will be minimal. Will need to maintain counters on the screen like in other sim games for time (date), budget, sales, alerts, etc. with a bunch of random events going on behind the scenes to keep it interesting.

In your opinion, is GE the right software to use for this type of project or is there another product I should consider? I was also looking at Game Maker. I do not know enough to determine whether either product meets my needs but both seem to offer quite a bit to get me started considering this is my first game.

Not sure if I have provided enough info for you to offer assistance.
Thanks in advance.
Tim

well i have never use Game Maker but from what i've heard, no. With GE as long as you really want you can make almost anything. There was a demo for a game like the SIMS that Speckford made. Counters, random events, date/time are all very easy to achieve. There are a few clock demos in the demo part of the forum, so that can get you started.

if you need help just ask everyone here is very friendly :)
