Subject Lines for Posts in this Forum

Hello everyone,

I have noticed that a lot of the recent posts in the forums have had subject lines like "how do I," "This is odd," "can anybody help me," "help me please!," etc. and I was thinking that it might be a good idea to make sure that the subject lines for our posts give at least SOME indication of what the post is about.

The only reason I say this is because I recently tried to search the forum and my search produced a ton of hits, many of them with subject lines that didn't tell me what the posts were about. It took forever to sift through them all and the time required would have been greatly reduced had the forum posts given some minimal info about their subject matter.

Just my two cents,

Plinydogg

Yes, good point. This is important for further readers to find the apropriate topic for their problem.

I also agree!
It would also be nice if multiple questions were put under one topic. It's not nice seeing this every day over an over again:
Topic:HELP ME!!!!!!!
How do i blah blah blah...

Topic:HELP ME AGAIN!!!!!
Oh, i forgot to ask how do i blah blah...

That's why the post reply or edit post buttons exist!
I don't want to sound mean but the forum will get cluttered pretty soon if this tempo is kept up and we will have more problems finding usefull treads just like plinydogg said.

heheheh.....well i am one of them sometimes but you make a good point there.i think i should actually say the right thing.its just when people say help!!!or help me!!!!!!more people actually view there problem and actually reply.becuz once they look at the post they might as well reply.

Yes, but if somebody has the same problem he will first search the forum, and when he don't find subject, he makes another post. 8)

When I first came, there were only 4 forums and only about 3,000 articles, and maybe 200 users. Now there are more than 10,000 articles and 500 users. What I'm getting at is that I was (and still am) a newbie. What really drew me into the forums was the fact that i felt really close to everyone, everyone was patient with my problems. I don't think all these topics about posting are necessary, becuase if you search the forums, this also has been posted many times. I think after a while, each person who comes here realizes that "we" like it better when you are descriptive in your subject line. However, I must say it does get quite annoying with 5 "NEEDHELP FAST!!!" subjects in a row.

Also, the reason I put that quote up there is becuase I don't think that would make the newbs feel too welcome, I mean I would like it much more If I could post all my stuff as a newbie where the "GE Pros" post as well.

Anyone get what I'm saying? :?

...ok back to C++ hehe... btw anyone know if it's possible to change colors in a basic text based C++ app?...

yup, i understand, we are all newbies, cuz no one here knows the real limit to GE!

well if GE became open source then it would truly be limitless because you could change the engine in ANY way you liked. needless to say though that there would be even more "needhelpfastdeargodhelpmebeforeIshitmyself" posts.

Making a subject that describes your problem helps people in the long-run rather than reading an entire line of:

HELP ME!
I am having problems with so and so

People are just too lazy and don't care about their problems enough to tell others what it may be, and then they get frustrated noone will help them...

I agree with this subject :)
People just never do what people need, only what they need =/

Though I do see users posting actual problems more :D
