Hi all,

I am looking for software to allow my son(14yrs) so he can start creating games. He does not have knowledge of C but is enjoying ICT at school and is keen on games.

Is GE a good place to start?

Thanks
Neil

I would say yes because you don't need to know C that much.
I started by viewing the tutorials and understanding the codes.
And I think your son can do that too.

I started using ge year ago with no any knowledge of C, but now I have learned much and am able to do nice games, so I think ge is wonderful software for 14 old, (that's how old I was when I started with ge). And ge is also great for learning C. :D

I was playing with liero around that age.
Got my hands on a editor and started designing crazy guns.
Snake missles and carpet bomb grenades/missles...

Good old days... then something glitched and editor would never open.
Anyway. GE is alright place to start. Still gotta understand the actions and some coding.

Check some games you already have for editors?
I often got into exploring game editors/mods and some would be complex... some would be simple and allow some easy ideas...
Helps expand the understanding of games what makes them run. textures, stats, levels, etc...

I confirm that your son can start without C. Knowledge.
and eventually, he can go to make a commercial game for Iphone, Andriod, and etc.
