New member with a question

Guys,

I'm a newbie here. I'm thinking to purchase GE.

i) Wich package is best?
ii) Lets say, I'm just using the Demo version & selling the .exe with GE's watermark, is it legal?

I'm trying the Demo version, eventhough its quite difficult for me to understand, I'm pretty confident that I can get people's help through this forum. So, should I buy GE to create games? Pls advise. Thanks in advance, guys.

My advise is to try the demo to get familiar with GE.
Then buy, buy, BUYYY!!!!
It's really worth it.
u get rid of advertisement, can create games for Pocket PC and other platforms, even Linux.
thet's the main reason I bought it.
(I ordered the silver package, when I have enough money, I'll get the gold one :D )

Hi GKS, you're Malaysian so you could speak Melayu aren't you???
Well, I come from Indonesia, if you need some ideas to make your game you could ask me

To answer to GKSs original question, the watermark goes automaticly to each exe you make. It also changes its colour with some kind of algoritm. I haven't try uncrypting the algoritm but I guess its much more complicate than r+=n->g+=n->b+=n. Perhaps it even uses random variable so you can't really crack it off your exe.

Hi Tekdino, yeah, once you bought GE, the watermark will dissapear but my question is, let's say I do not want to buy GE & creating games using the Demo version, can I sell it to people? Is it legal? Just a question.
I'm going to purchase GE soon.

Another question,
Is it possible to use the same .ged file created with Demo Version & export the same file into exe without watermark in Basic Package?

First question: I guess you can sell your games with the watermark.

Second question: I'm not 100% sure about the latest version but this should be possible. I am 99,9% sure but if I would promise it is possible, then I would lie. But yeah, my brain says it must be possible. As far as I've seen, GE adds the watermark only when the game is being exported. The ged files aren't different between demo and full version. At least should not be.

Welcome to Game Editor and the forums! :D

to assure u that it is legal:

I've got 3d game studio xtra edition.

Every time u start the created game it will show the watermark of 3d game studio first.

it's a full version u know, and u can create commercial games and sell 'em.

so I don't see why u can't sell games with the demo version of GE.

but u r gonna get the full version anyway...

:D

Guys, I've tried GE Demo Version on last weekend. Understood that making game is not a easy job.
Respect those guys who have done games, furthurmore uploaded the sample games at GE site. Really appreciate their good work but I think I'll give up soon. I don't know where to start! Is there a proper way to understand well this GE?
Is there any recommended samples that I need to go through? Seeking for your advice. Pls help. Thanks.

The built in tutorials are normally a big help. While they seem to be about different things, they really tie together!

The next trick is to think small. You wont manage a huge game to start.

Sgt Sparky is a good example. He seems to pick a certain concept and makes a simple game based on that. And people like his little games!

It works like this: pick a concept.. lets say "climb upwards". Then you pick a device or element that makes that hard to do...."falling blocks".

Make some really simple graphics and then using the concepts found in the tutorials, write a simple little game that does these things. After its working well, go back and do nicer graphics(if you must).

A game doesnt have to be big and complicated, it just has to be fun.

I'm learning GE & tried a simple game. Pls find attached *.ged file.
I'm facing 3 problems. Below are the problems.

i) Whenever the ball hit the moving stick, it should bounce upwards always but once a while its not.
ii) When the ball hits a brick, the ball should bounce back but it is breaking all the brikcs in a row.
iii) Once a live gone, I want the ball comes out from the stick when I click the mouse. How I can do this? ---> I think I can do this now..(edited on 7th Jan 08)

Thanks in advance, guys.
