I don't really have time right now, but I found this from long ago when I was first trying out gameEditor. It is very poorly coded, sorry. I'll get back to you, I changed the sprites to your ship design. The sprites I used should work for what you want.

awesome thats exactly what I wanted
but now there is a problem with the way he shoots =\
the shots will not follow him when he turns they will just go straight up
For example my ship is facing left but now the bullets just come from the side of him and go straight up

Here. There is a glitch or flaw... You can't shoot while moving nw, sw, or se. This I believe is caused by the keyboard event reading by gameEditor. If you change the firing button it should be fine. It does not like space... Or it could be my keyboard, we shall see. The space2 one has a little cleaner code, if you care. It uses similar code to DST's example. The only real difference is the animations.

Just make the actor, set the zdepth, and lock it. Locking it is unnecessary but is helpful so you don't move it.

Take a look at this....its space2, but i changed the shot script.
Now there's only one animation needed for shot; In the createactor, i marked out the existing code (/* */) and replaced it with one line.
You can do this to the ship, too.

Yeah, didn't think of that... That way is a lot better, and looks much cleaner too.

Oh, zdepth is the visual priotiry of sprites, kind of. 0 is the lowest, 1 is the highest or 'closest' to the screen.

he can move fine but i just want him to start facing forward not 2 the rite

Set a Create Actor event, and set the angle or direction, I don't know which you are doing, but set it to the up position. Check the draw actor script for the up button event.
