I second that. It might help a little, by literally, two to three people. You need to promote your site a lot to get a little popularity. You need to have superstar popularity to get mediocre popularity, and you need addiction popularity to get big popularity.

It seems you don't really want to make it (only because you need the reassurance of others to do it), and in that case no, you shouldn't. You've asked, and got about as many people to answer as you are probably going to get. Bumping the topic to ask the same question won't help much. You'll just get the same people answering. While doing it for others is good, you should also want to see it complete, otherwise you'll end up not being motivated. As I said previously, a lot of these projects have fallen through, either due to lack of interest, lack of skill, or lack of time.

If you are trying to provide hosting and traffic to gE and games then you have to have a passion for it, a passion for marketing and deploying a scheme to get traffic that will allow for this. What good is a website that no one visits? You would need to work everyday at trying to market the site to the world. Creating ads and banners and buying ad space on other popular websites. Visiting forums and marketing your website.
Its a nice idea, and I like that you would be hosting the content and stuff, but realistically it would need more than just downloadable games, it would need web apps and you would have to market it some how to get the traffic to make it useful. If the website had more functionality than just hosting games then it could become a popular page. Maybe host not only the games but game reviews and upcoming games list. Maybe start a Youtube channel for game video demos and reviews as well.
It's a lot of work, otherwise its just a dumping repository, and how much bandwidth does the site have? How many downloads/uploads per month? You would need to make sure that your provider supports the downloading and uploading of games on a large scale. What about the cost? How will you afford it?
Like with anything, I think rather then trying to make the website first, rather design it, get it all together, make sure its going to do what you want, then if you believe in yourself and your creation, then go live with it.

Something to spice up the website. Like games that you can play from the browser, or anything. The thing is you just have to be imaginative and add as much as you can and make it as functional as possible.

Indeed

Good things come to those who wait. I can't wait for the web port!
