I have two choices for you, we challenge GM, or we make a separate project that we will release through the internet showing our work. One more choice though; we hope that when people search for
game development that GE pops up first. When I searched I found GM first. I stopped using it after a few days, but then GE came. I prefer we challenge GM. Sorry if you read when the last part said GE, I meant GM.

2 be honest,, the only reasons that GM is mor epopular is because:
1 its by yahoo, who have alot of money for advertising etc
2 it requires no knowledge of any coding to do something, whereas GE does
(i like that, more possibility)
as bee-ant said, release pwnage games to conquer, and refer to GE in them lots (w00t, free advertising XD)
challenging them head on is a BAD idea, as i said, they have much more money.

Okay everyone so far is againts this, so just because it's has more money I think we should just still challenge them. Just give it one chance and if it goes too bad then we can delete this topic and never try to face another Tool forever.

its better not to try, an example:
your a weedy kid at school, you challenge a bully to a game of chess for the control of his gang, what does he do?
he stuffs the peices down your throat and tells u to F-off.
see my point?

Well that proves the bully has fear in him. He knows if the more experienced chess player beats him he has to give up his game. So if GM tells us to do that, we know they have a secret fear of us. They will be afraid if we beat them we get more popular. You see that's what I think.

He feared just as much as you feared for choosing to defy him

Honestly whether or not gameEditor is actually better than Game Maker is not the issue. gameEditor is nowhere near as widespread as Game Maker, and to try to persuade GM users to use gE on the GM forums is not a good idea. It would simply get buried. How about another example? I hear people say photoshop is better, and most of the people I know don't even know what gimp is. Even if I proved to them somehow that gimp is superior, most people won't stop what they are doing to learn how to do the same thing they already knew how to do. Same goes for gameEditor. And just because some veterans can make better games using one over the other doesn't mean the tool is better. Though knowing that great games can be made is a good thing, potential users will look at the overall quality of games, not just the best ones.
Also NightOfHorror, do you ever check your pms?

Ok look lets really break down this popularity nonsense. Popularity has to do with advertising , and advertising has to do with money . Yes I would love to see this forum more active , but its fine the way it is.
Game Editor will be very popular very soon but for different reasons. My company is comming with a iphone release , which I feel will do well. There are others here who have major releases as well .
The only thing I would like to see here is people helping each other with projects , more group projects . Thats the point of my retroman project , everyone to join in making a
game together. Except for My Tims Quest and WoBong which I did by myself , all of my other commercial games comprised of teams of 3-4 or more people. Thats the direction that I am hope
game editor will move towards in the future. The project is here

I don't want to GM people to come over here, I want searchers to see that GE beat GM, but if it makes you happy we will pick 10 people to make one game so that they can spread it over the internet. Is that okay.

If I recall correctly... once 4-6 years ago (most likely 5), another a year after that one and someone who was pronning GM over GE in recent years, although the other two attacks where "heavier" which could span to multiple topics having multitude of pages against GE and for GM. I remember, over 100 GM user made an account simply to come around and troll. Yes, a good percentage of the current dead accounts, are GM users.
