THE LAST MONTHLY TOURNAMENT: 2014 February Tournament

Guys, we have had plenty of monthly tournaments since I started this in April of 2012, but I have decided that one month is just not enough to make a game, but for schedule reasoning, I am having one more. Actually that is a lie because in April, I will have a monthly tournament, but that is just for the anniversary of these tournaments, and that will be the only ones now. I thank all who have participated, but after this month, our tournaments will be 2 months long, giving you more time.

As for this month, the month of February will have the theme of rotation. Don't ask me what type, for that is up to you decide, let the gears in your head rotate on this one please. As always, the only rule is that all, but the master judge can enter, unless only two games are submitted, then if an intended judge entered, they can't be a judge either. In the case a judge enters, and at least 3 games enter, then the master judge will use percentages to decide the winner. If, 4 or more enter, then we will have a judge week from the 22nd-26th, and have an award ceremony on the 28th and 29th.

The grading rubric is slightly changed from previous month's entries, as lcl's game from last month showed me a flaw in the rubric. Instead of music and sound, the rubric will have the effect of the quantity of music, and the effect of the quantity of sound. That means you could have no music or sound and still get 5 points for both, if I feel it fits the game more appropriately then having some would.

Now here is the grading rubric:

Theme- x/10- how well does it follow the theme of this tournament? If the theme total is less than an average of five points, you are disqualified.
Originality- x/10- Is this a new game, or is the same one that we always play and see?
Creativity- x/10- Do they use the elements in this game to enhance game-play?
Title- x/10- If you saw the title of this game, would it make you want to read the back?
effect of the quantity of sound- x/5- Do they fit in with the graphics, story, and overall, sound good?
effect of the quantity of music- x/5- Do they fit in with theme, story, action, and overall, make the tempo of the game?
graphics- x/10- Do they appeal to you, do they fit in with the theme, are they a good fit to the story?
game-play- x/10- Is this something with replay value, is it addicting, is it something that is was worth playing?
overall- x/20- How do you feel about this game as a whole?
Judge Total- x/90- The judge grading this must add up the above total to get one grand Judge Total.
Judge Bonus- x/10- MYSTERY UNTIL I THINK OF ONE! (The bonus must enhance the game, if you just put it in, but it adds no value to the overall feeling towards the game, then the bonus will not count).

Master Judge Rubric:

Master Total- x/90j- j=number of judges- Master Judge adds up all of Judges' score to get one grand master total.
Master Bonus- x/10j- j=number of judges- Master Judge adds up all of Judges' score to get one grand master bonus total.

The deadline is at the end of the 21st of February in Central Standard Time.

If you want to be a judge, say so on this topic, or pm me, or if you see me on chat, you can tell me on there. Judges, do not release scores at all and do not judge until judge week.

Have fun and get started! :D

I will use sonic's answer:

THE main theme is rotation OR the effect of spinning
There is no game called rotation to my knowledge that has been posted or made on Game editor

ANYWAY in the next tournament all YOU have to do is to make a game involving spinning EFFECT,ACTORS,CONCEPT......anything that well...........ROTATE
the whole point of a these tournament are to find out your level of creativity
telling you what kind of game you should make will have many bad effects

1-you won't show us what you are capable of
2-you will lose a lot of point because you won't be creating something new

Ok, as I've said before, February is a really busy month for me, but is it ok if I MIGHT join? Join as in participate? I have an idea of a rotation game. If I haven't done anything until the middle of the month, I'll just be a spectator. Exams are coming up, and lots of assignments...

That is fine, school comes first, but if you can squeeze in time, that would be excellent. :D

Okay, I just posted to not only remind people of this tournament, but to see who is planning on joining as of now, as usually in the beginning of each month, I guess some idea of who to expect to join.

Hm, seems like the forums aren't active the last 2 days. Even my post hasn't been answered. xD
Concerning the tournament: Next week will be extremely busy. I have to go home at 7 PM everyday to rehearse a film project for school with my friends. I don't think I can join, BUT, there might be a possibility for me to be judge... Shooting starts tomorrow, so... :(

Yeah, you can be a judge, but based on the looks of it, there doesn't seem to be any participants. :(

And now that you told your game idea to everyone, someone might just copy it xD joke, I don't believe that would happen here :D

But hey, NoH, if there will be enough competitors, I would like to be a judge.
However, I have one question about judging.. Why shouldn't the judges' judgements be visible for all? I mean, why it has to be done in a way that only one who gets to see them is you, and the maker of the game itself, if he asks to? I think it would be nice for everyone to be able to see what the judges think about the games. Of course there should be more than just the points, judges should explain their opinions.

Sorry it took a bit to respond, I had to clean out my computer as ads and re-directions kept popping up and making it where 10million tabs would open and wouldn't let me actually do what I needed to do.

The reason we do not openly give out the ratings to games is because I would like to ensure the privacy of our contestants are put into consideration. Think of it this way, if someone got a low score, it may be publicly embarrassing if their ratings were shown to the game community. That may discourage them from making game, something that would be the opposite of what these tournaments are supposed to do, encourage more games to be made. I believe for a person to get better, the critique I give them is good enough for them to try to work on, and if they so choose to look at their ratings, then it would be their choice privately, so they can see exact points of what needs to be improved on their game and how much.

Well guys, not counting today, as it is almost over, you have 11 days to complete your games for the final monthly tournament.
