Alright guys this is important: Our rights as gamers, game makers, (basic to intermediate) programmers, and as Americans are being violated. The u.s. government (for who it applies to) is trying to make it illegal for minors (most of us) to buy any game that "[lacks] serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value" and it also says that the us government is going to rate games even further than the ESRB and make it REALLY hard for minors to buy (or download) any game(including the ones you guys make =(.
Apparently any game causing direct, indirect or any other type of harm virtual or otherwise to another living thing will be rated as" inappropriate for minors" and if someone from the u.s downloads a game you made that vaguely fits the description (thats how the u.s works) you will get hit with a $1000 fine regardless of where you are!!! they plan to set up a simple treaty that makes this law international!
So did i scare you?

._. , You know what I have to say about that, **** you politicians! **** YOU! :x :x :x I'm still gonna play my call of duty when ever I want. The government has no ****ing control over that. NOBODY has ever picked up a gun, and started slaughtering everyone just because they thought it was fun, just because of the game. It's so stupid. But, it's probably not gonna get passed anyway. Another thought, it seems the majority of people on this forum are not from the U.S.

This law was already passed in California over five years ago - it's just that it was never really held to tightly, and they haven't done what they REALLY want to do, which is label games that contain excessive violence, nudity, drugs, etc etc (of course, it's going to be THEIR ridiculous idea of "excessive". ugh.), with an "18", and treat it like cigarettes - selling those games will result in a fine.
Do they have ANY idea what that will do to the game industry?? What adult has time to play video games anymore - at least an adult who has a life and a job and a family. There's always little to know time. Sales will go down so quickly and the industry itself could crash because a vast majority of gamers are either teens or adults who were gamers when they were teens (and never really got a real job). There's nothing wrong with video games - I do know and will say that there are some that DO have what I would define as excessive violence or other more adult themes, but ESRB rates those as "M", and even THEY are super strict about how they rate their games. Even then, if adults don't give a crap what their kids play, they'll allow their kids to play those M games and the store selling the game won't have to worry about the fine or that kid's well-being. The government is NOT OUR MOTHER!!!

The U.S Government is becoming so corrupt it's not even funny O.o First, the econemy falls horribly and now they wanna pull this move? This is going to lower the sales on games if they do that, DUDE they are so freaking stupid xD I swear man, its as if the government is being ran with people who have no common sense, or "college professionals" who think they're professional when they come straight out of college -.-`

yeah that will never pass, atleast not internationally.
and about some random us kid downloading your game and you getting fined for it, that wont happen even if the law is passed, its not your fault that a kid downloads your game, to stop that no games could ever be uploaded to the internet as no company would have the means to stop them being downloaded by some kid.

it will be somthing along the lines, as long as you say, do not download if under the age of... next to your download link then youll be fine :)
