Quake on an oscilloscope

Just saw this on a Polygon article. Some things like this just blow my mind.

It's the classic shooter Quake, being rendered on an oscilloscope. Kind of interesting 'cause the first video game "Tennis for Two" was also ran on an oscilloscope.

Here's the guy's technical writeup http://www.lofibucket.com/articles/osci ... quake.html

Wow, that is amazing! So basically the guy has had to convert the wire frame geometry to sound. That's just incredible.
(And it appears the guy behind this is from Finland, yay! :D )

Yeah, I thought it was pretty rad.
It's kind of become the trend to put classic games on hardware that wasn't meant to run it. (See also Doom on a Printer)

And lol I didn't even notice he was from Finland :o

Well, if a Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System can run on a potato, anything is possibru.

Yeah, I've seen that one too. These kinds of things are just epic :D

Well, I think it'd have been impossible for you to notice that.. It was his name that made me realize the guy's from Finland. :D

Wow, that's really neat :)
I've messed with scopes a bit, did some stuff like turning pictures into sounds and then playing them through the screen.
(Then moved on to working with spectrograms, inspiring my name, but you can't do real-time imagery well with with those.)
Really neat! Here's one of my favorite re-purposed hardware videos. Not a game, but still pretty cool.
