What I get when I buy: reg code? software copy?

I haven't tried game editor yet, but based on the reviews I've seen in this forum and other external reviews, I'm already thinking of buying GE within the week to explore game-design+making for WM5. I just have a couple of questions:

1) What do I get when I buy? A reg code or a software copy or something else? What happens when, say, the hard drive GE resides on crashes and is lost? I would like to buy GE already so I can take it off my To Do list (yes, I am quite a todolist type of guy), but I am waiting for my laptop to be fixed by IBM/Lenovo (sloooow). I am currently using my company's laptop where I do not want to install GE (and cannot because I do not have admin privs).

2) Aside from multiplayer and additional platform support, what are the key unique features of the next version planned for because I am curious in getting the silver package for the free upgrade, but that's more than double the price of the basic. I'd like to see if the next upgrade will be valuable to me for an additional $25. (I'm just starting out so I'm not yet looking into multiplayer and am looking to focus on one platform for now).

3) When is the next release? :-)

Thanks! Appreciate a reply from anyone knowledgeable.

The silver upgrade makes good sense, but even the basic full version is fine.

For your dime, you get an activation code and a link to a download. at times, makslane will update GE, and with a upgrade package, you simply select upgrade from the help menu.

Dont install it on that company computer. GE does a net check to see if the specific machine with GE on it is registered for its use, so installing on a second machine will not work(without a second copy). There is a way to change the registration if needed.

Keep your emails regarding the purchase, and all the serial numbers. If you have trouble, Makslane will use those to sort things out.

I cant comment on the features of the next release, nor the timing, but it seems to be every few months. Makslane himself doesnt lsit release times.

You wont miss the 25 bucks if you spend it. You will miss out on a lot of great fun if you dont!

Thanks!

Thanks for the speedy reply! Yeah, I figure I'll wait till IBM fixes my laptop...

From other people's experience, are there any comaptibility issues if you're working on a game and you buy/install the upgrade?
