Please tell me, Makslane, in very simple words what you did to get this to work on your axim. DST sent me another file that bombed again.

Am a very patient girl with a very tough dell axim, but don't know exactly what you did to get this onto your axim and work and you know i'm a newbie in addition.

So when you have the free time, if you could kindly just let me know for example:

Open ged file in ge. Click on file, hit .... that's what i need to know what do you hit and is the result an exec file or something else.

Thanks. : )

OK, DST, I emailed this game to 4 of my testers. It was too big a file to put up on my forum. I got one reply so far testing the Jump Buggy Racing without the sound. This is from GoldenGhost who is pretty thorough as a betatester. She had no trouble opening it without the sound:

"Ok got 3 starts, it didn't crash my pc but it is slow to respond. There was no way to exit the game except through a soft reset though, didn't like that. Only one button worked which was my "mouse". . . . Can't get past level one as my car didn't like to jump when it hit too many oil spills next to the "jump" spots. Move the oil spills further apart to give a chance to jump."

Gg has a Ipaq 2210/2215 .

Well thanks, that answered my questions.

Here are some important things I've learned about the PPC from this:

1. There is no 'esc' key on a ppc. Make sure to include another exit option.
2. When the game is running slow, your timers don't adjust. Your friend couldn't make the ramps because the timer was piling up in relation to game speed and making too many oil slicks.
3. Lots of large graphics are a bad idea for PPC. Now this may seem obvious, but JBR is, in comparison to my pc games, a very low resolution, so it seemed small to me! But the multiple road actors, the largest of which is over 600 pixels wide...I'll bet anything that is the cause of the poor speed.

Thanks again, and let me know if anyone else has some test results.

This from Old Shaman:

"Yes it loads and seems reasonably ok" He also had to do a soft reset to exit.

From Silvergirl:

"I loaded the test file onto my PPC (the main memory, not the SD card). When I accessed it, it gave the customary error message:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The program is from an unknown publisher. Running it can possibly harm your device. Do you want to continue?
Name: JBRppcNosound.exe
Publisher: Unknown
Location: \Program Files\Games
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When I said "Yes", it looked like something was trying to start (a momentary grainy grey screen, then the screen where I had put the file). It kind of froze my PDA, but not really since I could still go up and down, back and forth. And I was able to access the file again three or four times (I did this to get the entire error message typed out here) with the grainy screen not appearing again, I think. Then finally the PDA did a freeze that wouldn't allow anything, so then I did a soft reset."

Crashed and burned on T-Mobile Wing.
Sent it into a soft reset.

Jump Buggy Racing has been remade (much better this time) from scratch, and i've posted the GED file on the first post of this topic!

It is configured to be Windows and PPC compatible.

Cheers!
