Hello Mario Engine

Hi, this is my first post.

Some time ago, I found an interesting project called "Hello Engine", which purpose is to recreate most Mario games in game maker (http://code.google.com/p/hello-mario-engine/). Unfortunately, although it is open source, it requires game maker (I haven't it, and cannot purchase it since I use linux). Game Editor looks similar to game maker, so my question is: how difficult could be porting Hello Engine form game maker to game editor?

I never used either game maker or game editor, but I have some programming experience (mostly in Freebasic, and some C++).

game maker and game-editor use two completely different programming languages and all around has a different way of rendering things, It'd be pretty complicated :) But! People on the forums are willing to help with questions you might have, and can help you get on your way of being a programmer :D And making your own engine like this one :)
