Thanks retro. these will be useful. There have been other threads around this theme but it's always good to see more links about it.

Oh, welcome to the Game Editor community. Let us know how you get along with your animations. Good luck with it!

I really liked the last link you posted. I'd always had a little bit of a problem doing the 8-frame walk with hand drawn pixel art.

Anywho, I really recommend buying preston blair's animation book in the physical realm. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/092926 ... 0929261518

It's a nice big paperback book that's nice to practice with. Plus it's uber-cheap. And I always use this page as a reference for walk cycles..

Wait, there are ways to learn things outside of the internet?
I thought the real world was a myth!

Hi guys.

Well, animation and design in general are a big big problem for me. And for this reason I want to learn and make my own sprites and graphics.

Thanks for letting me know about the book. I will surely buy it because a screen is nice but it is so comfortable to learn with a book.

Yesterday evening I was free (no wife, no kids around) so I tested the 8-frames animation: I share the test just for fun. My poor guy has only one leg, no hands and the movement is really weird :D
But I have to say that Inkscape and gimp are very nice tools.

Here's my car.
Not animated yet, though. And not an original creation...
