GE Tutorial

*Information about DesertGamer's GE tutorial project*

I was wondering something. I would like to create a "game" that is a tutorial for Game Editor.

The tutorial will explain key components of GE, including variables, script methods, events and actions, and otherwise helpful tips that would be a great help to those who are new to the editor. It may be no professional tutorial, but any hobbyist or otherwise people who are interested in the editor can pick up fast.

I plan to start the creation of this new tutorial very soon. I just need feedback on this activity whether the game editor community supports what I'm doing. I don't particularly want an effort wasted.

Thanks!

P.S. Makslane: For this tutorial, may I use some of the image features of the editor? If so, I would greatly appreciate it...

Sounds like a good idea, people might learn faster with the interactivity element only games can bring to people. Go for it!

I think you should do it.

Personally, I found the GE tutorials to be hard to follow, though. I had to have two windows open to be able to follow along and do it myself. I was constantly stopping the demo to try to reproduce what it just did.

I realize that what works for me may not work for anyone else. I'm a software developer, and I know a half-dozen programming languages (at least! gah!) I like to have something I can look at while I am doing it myself, if I don't understand it yet. Trying to figure out where collisions with a platform started working in the cave man demo isn't as easy for me as a bit of text describing it.

On the other hand, the GE tutorials are an impressive demo of what the tool can do in a short amount of time.
